It’s Nice That — Cardiff University

We’re always delighted when It’s Nice That features our work. The feature celebrates the technical and creative aspects of our rebrand of Cardiff University, with special focus given to our collaboration with Commercial Type.

Cardiff University prides itself on adhering to the Welsh Language Standards. Their commitment ensures that any text-based material displayed publicly must be bilingual, offering equal prominence to both English and Welsh.

Our collaboration with Commercial Type and Paul Barnes, who meticulously drew the original typefaces at the heart of the rebrand was pivotal to the success of the project. Together, we embarked on a journey to respect and elevate the Welsh language within the university's visual identity, ensuring readability and cultural integrity.

The feature by It's Nice That highlights the broader significance of respecting and integrating linguistic diversity in design. The rebrand exemplifies the potential for design to bridge languages and cultures, creating identities that are inclusive, respectful, and innovative.
