The Beams | Only Studio

The Beams is an expansive new venue and event space on the Royal Docks in the heart of East London. Once part of the iconic Tate & Lyle sugar factory on the banks of the River Thames, the former warehouse has been transformed into a sprawling 55,000 sq ft event space, reimagined as a testbed for new culture, undiscovered talent, unique experiences and experimental creativity.

The Beams exists to foster new culture and test boundaries for those who crave the newest and most imaginative experiences. By creating a space for experimentation and creativity, the venue aims to revive London's cultural scene and offer hope for its future.

Located in the emerging Royal Docks area, The Beams is at the forefront of London’s most important regeneration project. With a focus on new ideas and creativity, it aims to bring excitement to the sugar mile and establish culture as the backbone of the neighbourhood.

The venue's name speaks to the factory-style light wells in the roof that flood the main space with natural light, and signifies its role in supporting and showcasing new talent, activations, productions and experiences.

The spirit of experimentation has inspired The Beams' new visual identity. A dynamic typographic treatment is used to mirror the repetition seen throughout the building's architecture and to establish a connection with the use of light in many of the venue's cultural offerings.

The UK’s late-night scene has been under siege and the pandemic hit like a meteor. A quarter of London’s clubs have been lost since it began. The Beams is our latest transformational project intent on reversing this trend, and has been our most successful brand launch to date.
