Raising awareness of opportunities in digital

The digital economy is booming, creating record numbers of jobs in the UK and growing 32% faster than the wider economy. Despite extraordinary prospects, few young people beyond those already studying related fields, consider a career in digital.

In response to the emerging digital talent shortage, BIMA created Digital Day - a nationwide initiative designed  to raise awareness of the fantastic opportunities that exist for young people in UK digital. The annual event links industry professionals with schools and colleges across the UK to engage and inspire young people to consider a career in digital.

In support of the initiative, Only recently refreshed the Digital Day brand to ensure relevance and appeal to boys and girls of different ages and with vastly different levels of digital understanding. The identity pairs bold block colours with simple graphics and colloquial copy to connect with young people and invite them to get involved in the programme.

Update: Digital Day 2015 was the largest and most successful programme to date. Over 100 digital agencies took part alongside some of digital's most iconic leaders, including Ogilvy Group UK Vice Chairman Rory Sutherland. The brand helped BIMA to secure the backing of several global brands including Sony Music, Vodafone, Microsoft, Standard Life and Channel 4 – adding further weight and gravitas to the event.

BIMA are now looking ahead to 2016 with next year set to be bigger and even better. Managing Director of Only Daniel Tweddle will be volunteering for the programme as Digital Day Coordinator for Leeds. Please contact him to find out more.
